Dripping Metal LLC is a small family-owned business that started in 2021. Our roots in Dripping Springs go back much further though, to the early 1900s. Jon Simpson’s (owner) great-great-grandfather, named John Speak Simpson, was a carpenter who bought property off RR12. John Speak Simpson, who owned a hardware store on 6th street at the time, would travel with his grandson all day to get from Austin to Dripping Springs on horse and buggy. Jon Simpson’s father, Worth Simpson, bought land in Dripping Springs in the 1970s. Jon Simpson grew up spending a lot of time exploring the Texas Hill Country, while also attending schools in the Dripping Springs School District. He helped his dad Worth (also a carpenter, like his great-grandad) build decks and gazebos around Hays County, once he was old enough. Besides doing carpentry work, Worth Simpson started welding in the 1970s, and taught Jon as well.

Jon Simpson has a Bachelor’s degree from Texas State University, but also obtained three certificates in welding from Austin Community College. Jon attributes his astute attention to detail within projects to his lineage of carpenters that came before him. Jon loves to work with his hands, whether it’s fabricating or playing the guitar.
